frequently asked questions

How do you make shampoo and conditioner eco-friendly?

To create LoCou’s eco-friendly shampoo and conditioner, we cut out all the hard-to-pronounce, artificial nasties and work with natural, sustainable and ethical ingredients instead.

Our range is completely free from silicone, sulphate’s, parabens, ethoxylates, paragons, propylene glycol, petrochemical cleansers, phthalates, DEA and artificial colours.

Certified organic with over 70% organic ingredients, 100% vegan and cruelty-free, the LoCou haircare range is also refillable to reduce waste. Luxury for your hair, kind to the planet.

Is it better not to use conditioner?

We always recommend the use of conditioner. Shampoo opens up the cuticle of the hair and conditioner closes it back down for a smooth finish.

Even if you have fine hair, just make sure you use a light-weight conditioner that doesn’t drag your tresses down.

How often should hair be washed?

You should only wash your hair every 3 to 4 days, depending on how your hair holds up. Like anything else in life, the more you wash it, the more it will expect it – you need to “train” your hair.

Frequent washing can lead to faster oil production. While the natural oils are great for your hair, just don’t push it too far.

What shampoo is best for the environment?

LoCou’s shampoo! But in all seriousness, it’s important that you choose an eco-friendly shampoo that is free from all the artificial nasties like silicone, sulphates, parabens, ethoxylates, paragons, propylene glycol, petrochemical cleansers, phthalates, DEA and artificial colours.

When you choose LoCou, you can rest easy knowing that all our products are eco-friendly, natural, sustainable and ethical. They are even refillable, to minimise waste. A love story for your hair, a happy ending for our earth.

Why should I use sulphate-free shampoo?

While sulphate can cleanse and create a lather, it’s a chemical that can potentially strip the moisture from your hair and skin. Depending on the concentration and what other hydrating ingredients are used to counterbalance the effects, it can leave your hair and skin feeling dry.

Over a time, with long-term use, these chemicals may slowly build up in your body, an unwanted side effect.

That’s why the whole LoCou haircare range is free from sulphate and all other nasties. We believe in nourishing your hair the natural, sustainable and ethical way.
